Indivisible Sagadahoc: Week of July 14, 2025
Creating more good trouble to fight for our democracy
Action Alert for the Week of July 14
Please contact Senators Collins and King to ask them to vote NO on the 2025/2026 Recissions Act. This bill, which has already passed the house in a close 214-212 vote, will fully rescind $9.4 billion in unobligated funds that were provided to the Department of State, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), various independent and related agencies, and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. This will functionally end these agencies for the year.
Senator Susan Collins
Portland office: 207-618-5560
Augusta office: 207-622-8414
Washington DC: 202-224-2523
Senator Angus King
Portland office: 207-245-1565
Augusta office: 207-622-8292
Washington DC office: 202-224-5344
Want extra credit? There are two more federal nominations to try to stop.
Trump toady (and former Trump criminal defense attorney) Emil Bove was nominated in late May to serve on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. We must try to stop him nomination as this will further unbalance the judiciary in favor of the Far Right. Contact any member of the Senate Judiciary Committee to explain that Bove must not be appointed to this seat because of his conflict of interest as former Trump criminal attorney. This is a clear indicator of loyalty to the current administration, rather than the Constitution and rule of law.
Project 2025 acolyte Laura Swett has been nominated to the Federal Energy Regulatory Committee (FERC). Swett is on board with Project 2025’s goal of replacing renewable energy sources with coal, nuclear, and natural gas. Maine Senator Angus King is on the Energy and Natural Resources Committee; in this role he has power to stop Swett’s appointment to FERC. Contact Senator King to express your concerns and to ask him to work to prevent ONE MORE Project 2025 acolyte from being in a position of power in the federal government.
